Little movement for Orioles in All-Star voting

It was more of the same for the Orioles in the most recent All-Star balloting figures.

Despite hitting .264/.339/.340 in June, Nelson Cruz is still the leader at designated hitter, following a May where he had a batting average of .339 with 13 home runs and 27 RBIs.

Matt Wieters is also still the leader among American League catchers with 1,488,884 votes. However, the O's catcher was ruled out for the rest of the 2014 season on Tuesday following a succesful ligament-reconstructive surgery. The next catcher in line is the Yankees' Brian McCann, who has a slight leads on the A's Derek Norris.

Other than Cruz and Wieters, Adam Jones is the only Oriole making a serious push for a starting spot on July 15 at Target Field in Minneapolis.

Jones dropped one spot in the most recent results to No. 5, and has some ground to make up in order to claim the final starting spot. Melky Cabrera currently owns that spot, and has a 401,300-vote lead over Jones. The O's outfielder could see the votes keep pouring in if he continues his strong June where he is hitting .356/.371/.712 with six homers and 14 RBIs.

Manny Machado and Nick Markakis moved back a spot at their respective positions, as Machado (856,976 votes) slipped to No. 4 among third basemen and Markakis (833,558) moved to No 10 among outfielders.

Chris Davis and J.J. Hardy both remained in the same spots as last week's balloting figures. Davis (777,807) is still in fourth at first base and Hardy (912,006) stayed in third among AL shortstops.

Voters will have the opportunity to elect their favorite starting players up to 25 times at MLB.com until Thursday, July 3 at 11:59 p.m. The 2014 MLB All-Star Game Selection Show will be held during the weekend of July 5-6.
