Markakis keys Orioles' early onslaught (Tillman update)

Toronto left-hander Sean Nolin received a rude introduction to the majors tonight, courtesy of Nick Markakis and the Orioles. Nolin lasted only 1 1/3 innings and left with the Orioles leading 6-1. Markakis led off the top of the first with a single and later scored on J.J. Hardy's three run homer. He brought home three runs in the second inning with a bases-loaded double, making him 2-for-2 with three RBIs and a run scored. Markakis now has a nine-game hitting streak, going 14-for-37 (.378) with four doubles, two home runs, nine RBIs and five runs scored. Manny Machado singled in the first inning. He's hit safely in 15 of his last 16 road games, going 31-for-71 (.437) with three homers, 11 RBIs and 15 runs scored. Danny Valencia started the second-inning rally with a leadoff double, raising his average to .332. Chris Tillman has allowed solo homers to Melky Cabrera in the first inning and Brett Lawrie in the second. He also gave up an RBI single to Emilio Bonifacio in the second to reduce the Orioles' lead to 6-3. Tillman threw 25 pitches in the first. He still hasn't recorded an out in the second, and his pitch count is up to 37. His seventh consecutive quality start already is in jeopardy. Update: Chris Davis is on another home run binge. Davis hit a solo shot off reliever Ramon Ortiz leading off the third inning, giving him three homers in the last three games, four in the last five and five in the last seven. He leads the majors with 16. The Orioles weren't done. Valencia hit his first home run as an Oriole after Matt Wieters walked, giving the Orioles a 9-3 lead. The combined distance of those two home runs was approximately 10 miles. Markakis singled with two outs, making him 3-for-3 and raising his average to .303. He's 15-for-38 (.395) in his last nine games. Update II: Chris Tillman hasn't allowed a run since the second inning, but he's thrown 91 pitches through the fourth. It will be a challenge for Tillman to complete six innings tonight. Tillman has allowed three runs and eight hits in four innings, with no walks, six strikeouts and two home runs.
