Markakis moves into third place among AL outfielders in All-Star voting

If the 84th All-Star Game were played tonight, the Orioles would have four starters in the American League lineup. Nick Markakis has moved into third place among AL outfielders with 1,463,392 votes. Teammate Adam Jones is first with 2,740,505 votes, followed by Mike Trout with 2,710,115. Chris Davis continues to lead all first basemen with 2,999,094 votes - the second-highest total in the league - to extend the margin over Prince Fielder (1,980,129), and J.J. Hardy leads shortstops with 1,871,010 to stay ahead of Elvis Andrus (1,358,412). Nate McLouth is seventh among AL outfielders with 1,300,158 votes. Torii Hunter (1,425,571) is fourth, followed by Jose Bautista (1,379,251) and Nelson Cruz (1,310,079). Third baseman Miguel Cabrera continues to lead all A.L. players with 3,277,890 votes, and Manny Machado is second at the position with 1,626,209. Joe Mauer leads AL catchers with 2,127,175 votes, followed by Matt Wieters with 1,615,625. The in-stadium phase of balloting concludes on Friday, June 28th, but fans will have the opportunity to cast their ballots exclusively online at MLB.com, the 30 club websites and their mobile devices until Thursday, July 4th at 11:59 p.m. (EDT). The All-Star Game will be played on July 16th at Citi Field in New York.
