Markakis ties club multi-hit record (Pearce homers, O's lose 3-2)

The Orioles trail the Yankees 3-1 after three innings, and Nick Markakis continues to leave his mark in the team's record book.
Markakis has singled twice today, leaving him 37 hits behind Boog Powell for fifth place on the Orioles' all-time list. I'm still counting.

Markakis has registered 50 multi-hit games for the sixth time in his career to tie Eddie Murray's franchise record (1978-80, 1982-84).
Markakis ranks fourth in Orioles' history with 433 multi-hit games behind Cal Ripken Jr. (845), Brooks Robinson (745) and Murray (596).
Adam Jones has recorded 50 multi-hit games for the second consecutive season.
The Orioles got on the board today in the bottom of the third inning on Nelson Cruz's two-out single into center field that scored Markakis. Cruz has 102 RBIs this season.
Yankees starter Shane Greene stranded two runners after Steve Pearce doubled down the right field line.
Three of the Orioles' six hits are doubles by Pearce, Jones and Jimmy Paredes.
Miguel Gonzalez has thrown five, 36 and 13 pitches in three innings. He's retired the Yankees in order in the first and third.
The Blue Jays and Rays are tied 3-3 in the seventh.
Update: Steve Pearce homered in the bottom of the sixth inning, his first since Aug. 28, to reduce the Yankees' lead to 3-2.
Pearce drove an 0-2 pitch from Shane Greene, who came out of the game. He's got 17 homers this season.
Gonzalez has thrown 106 pitches in six innings and likely will be replaced by Ryan Webb in the seventh. He's allowed three runs and three hits, with three walks, one strikeout and a home run.
Today's attendance: 44,261, the eighth sellout this season at Camden Yards.
