The Orioles and OriolesREACH have again partnered with the Casey Cares Foundation to host the ninth annual Casey Cares 5K Run/Walk at Oriole Park at Camden Yards on Saturday, July 15. Orioles first baseman Chris Davis and his wife, Jill will serve as race ambassadors for the third straight year.
The 3.1 mile run/one mile walk starts at 8 a.m., beginning at Oriole Park, and ends on the field. Participants will enjoy a pre-race warm up with the Oriole Bird, music, and other entertainment, as well as post-race refreshments. Top race winners and the top fundraiser will be announced in a pregame ceremony prior to Saturday night's 7:15 p.m. game against the Texas Rangers. Additionally, Casey Cares Foundation Executive Director Casey Baynes will be recognized as Saturday's Birdland Community Hero.
Media interested in covering the race on Saturday must either have an Orioles full-season credential or contact Kailey Adams (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) of the Orioles Public Relations Department to request access. Media parking is located in Lot A on the south side of the ballpark. The Davis family, as well as Baynes and race participants, will be available for interviews upon request.
Registration fees are $45 per person through Friday, July 13, or $50 per person on race day (cash or check only). Children 8 and under can register for only $20. To register, participants should visit www.orioles.com/caseycares.
All proceeds will benefit the Casey Cares Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides personalized, uplifting, and ongoing programs with a special touch to critically-ill children and their family members throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Since moving to Oriole Park in 2013, the race has raised more than $500,000.
