More notes on Juan Soto's gigantic home run

Juan Soto launched an epic blast into the upper deck last night at Citizens Bank Park, building on his resume as one of the most exciting young power hitters in the game today.

The three-run shot turned into the game-winner for the Nationals at Philadelphia, coming on a 1-0 pitch. The ball went over the right field foul pole. The game was tied 6-6 when Soto hit the home run. The Nats came back from a 6-1 deficit by scoring nine unanswered for the signature win 10-6 in 10 frames. Suddenly the Nats are back in the series, which is tied at a game apiece.

It marks his second homer of the season, both against Philadelphia, both coming in a game started by Aaron Nola, although this one came off of lefty reliever José Álvarez.

The blast went 432 feet at a launch angle of 30 degrees, and came off the bat at 112.7 mph according to Statcast. Soto has now hit as many homers at Citizens Bank Park as he has at Nationals Park (seven).

Soto has hit 17 of his 24 homers away from home. It's his eighth homer to right field and third on a 1-0 count. It's also the eighth homer he has hit off a left-hander and eighth against the Phillies. The next-closest opponent is four against the Braves. Both of his homers this season have been three-run shots.

The home run and huge comeback also are signal that the Nats will not let the Phillies cruise through the National League East. The Nats could have very easily become desperate down 6-1, but they fought back thanks to blasts by Soto, Victor Robles, Yan Gomes and Howie Kendrick. Robles added another line drive to right field, this time in the 10th, and the double scored the final run of the comeback, 10-6.

Gomes hit his first of the year, Kendrick his first pinch-hit homer and Robles' blast came on a 2-2 pitch with two outs in the ninth and the team down 6-5.

* It was a very impressive 7-3 win for Double-A Harrisburg on Tuesday night over the Hartford Yard Goats. Left-hander Ben Braymer (1-0) allowed only two runs in five innings in his first start of the season. He scattered four hits, striking out four and walking two. Adrián Sanchez hit a solo homer and Drew Ward continued his hot hitting (.348) with a RBI double. He added another RBI later in the game. Tres Barrera had three hits. Austin Davidson went 3-for-4 with two doubles. He's hitting .548. The Senators are 5-1.

Joan Baez struck out six in three innings. Aaron Barrett pitched a perfect ninth inning. Right-hander Wil Crowe pitches tonight.
