The Orioles still are waiting for the results of Miguel Gonzalez's MRIs on his right shoulder and elbow. A team physician still needs to read them.
Manager Buck Showalter is hoping that Gonzalez favored the shoulder and caused inflammation in the elbow. Gonzalez underwent ligament-reconstructive surgery in the elbow in 2009.
Despite the expanded roster this month, the Orioles could choose to place Gonzalez on the disabled list and recall a player earlier than the 10-day period for staying in the minors. Examples include reliever Jorge Rondon and outfielders David Lough, Nolan Reimold and Henry Urrutia.
Showalter said there's still time to summon a position player to Camden Yards tonight, but the Orioles won't add another pitcher.
Kevin Gausman may have his start pushed back from Wednesday at Camden Yards to Friday at Rogers Centre. Showalter would like to give him extra rest. Also, left-hander Wei-Yin Chen could avoid the Blue Jays again. It's not a favorable matchup for the Orioles on paper.
If Showalter needs another starter, he's going to pull someone out of the bullpen. Candidates include T.J. McFarland and Steve Johnson.
Tyler Wilson threw a four-inning simulated game today and it went well. Mike Wright will start tonight for Triple-A Norfolk.
Wright could replace Gonzalez in the rotation if the injury is serious.
The following Orioles' minor leaguers will play for Peoria in the Arizona Fall League: pitchers Jon Keller and Donnie Hart, catcher Chance Sisco, infielder Adrian Marin and outfielder Mike Yastrzemski.
Two pitching spots are listed as TBA. Hunter Harvey could fill one of them.
Reliever Chaz Roe made news beyond being activated from the disabled list. He shaved his head. The mullet is history.
