O's game blog: Dylan Bundy pitches homestand finale

The Orioles have scored 26 runs in back-to-back games for the first time April 26 and April 29, 2015. They beat Tampa Bay 15-5 on Friday night and 11-2 last night. They've posted 30 hits in those games, added five doubles and four homers, and have gone 13-for-26 with runners in scoring position.

After struggling much of this year when batting with RISP, the Orioles are 17-for-36 (.472) over the last four games, scoring 36 runs, and 22-for-62 (.355) in the last eight games, scoring 51 runs. The Orioles are batting .298/.361/.507 in eight games since the All-Star break and they rank second in the AL in all three categories.

Outfielder Joey Rickard matched his career high with five RBIs last night. He also did that on May 13 - also against Tampa Bay, his former organization. Rickard's eight RBIs in his last two games are the most in back-to-back games for his career and the first time this season recording RBIs in consecutive games. He has five career home runs and 22 career RBIs against Tampa Bay (27 games), and both are the most against any opponent for his career. This was also his first career game with three extra-base hits and his first career multi-double game.

Trey-Mancini-run-orange-sidebar.jpgTrey Mancini went 4-for-4 with a two-run homer and three singles. That was a career-high four hits for Mancini and his 20th multi-hit game of the season. He's hitting .367 (11-for-30) in eight games since the All-Star break.

Second baseman Jonathan Schoop extended his hitting streak to a season-high 11 games with his single in the fifth inning. He's hitting .360 (18-for-50) during this stretch. Schoop is batting .368 (35-for-95) with eight home runs in 23 games in July and has hit safely in 21 of 22 games in which he's had an at-bat in this month. His 35 hits in July lead the American League.

O's third baseman Danny Valencia matched his season-high hitting streak of six games with his single in the fourth inning and he's batting .417 (10-for-24) during this stretch. He is hitting .405 (15-for-37) in 10 games against Tampa Bay this season. Since the beginning of the 2017 season, he is hitting .481 (26-for-54) against the Rays in 15 games.

Catcher Caleb Joseph recorded his second three-hit game of the season and his eighth multi-hit game. Joseph is hitting .340 (18-for-53) in 15 games in July.

On the mound today, right-hander Dylan Bundy (6-9, 4.57) makes his 20th. He tried to make No. 20 on Wednesday versus Boston and gave up three homers and five runs in two innings. But that game got rained out and those stats were washed away with the rain. The game didn't count and neither did the stats from the contest.

Over his past three games, Bundy has thrown a combined 12 1/3 innings, allowing 19 hits and 16 runs (15 earned). He has yielded five earned runs in three straight starts. But in eight day games in 2018, Bundy is 5-1 with a 1.83 ERA and .186 average against.

Right-hander Yonny Chirinos (0-2, 3.78 ERA) gets his seventh start for the Rays. In his last one on July 24 versus the Yankees, he gave up three runs in 6 2/3 innings. In three road starts, he is 0-2 with an ERA of 2.19.

The Orioles are 3-2 on this homestand that ends today. They are off Monday and begin a two-city six-game road trip Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium.
