O's game blog: It's Tillman time tonight against Boston (Hunter Harvey note)

Chris Tillman will try to get his season turned around tonight here at Camden Yards in the second game of the series against Boston. Tillman had an ERA of 3.34 after his first nine 2014 starts. But over his last four starts, he has an ERA of 12.56, allowing eight, six, one and five runs in those outings. Twice Tillman has not gotten an out in the second inning in those last four starts. The Orioles are hoping the pitcher that began the year with an ERA of 0.84 in his first three starts, can show some of that form tonight. Tillman has an ERA of 9.69 in the first inning and 11.45 in the second innings of his starts. He has given up 41 earned runs on the year and 28 runs have come in those first two innings. Tillman is 5-2 with a 2.86 ERA in 13 career starts against Boston. He faced Boston twice in the season's first few weeks, going five innings each time. He's allowed four runs in those two starts. Can Tillman pitch a good one tonight? Meanwhile, Caleb Joseph threw out another runner trying to steal last night. Joseph has now caught seven of 16 trying to steal giving him a caught stealing percentage of .438. The other O's catchers this year have thrown out just five of 36 for a .139 percentage. At 32-30, the Orioles have now won six of their last nine games and can get to the .500 mark at home with a win tonight. They are 13-14 at the Yard so far. Chris Davis recorded his first career bunt single last night. It was his 600th career hit. The Orioles are 4-4 this season against Boston and 28-17 versus the Sox since the start of the 2012 season. Hunter Harvey tonight: It was not a good night in Salisbury for the Orioles' 2013 first round pick, right-hander Hunter Harvey. He walked the first three batters of the top of the third against Hickory and was pulled. He had allowed four runs over the first two innings. His final line: two innings pitched, five hits, seven runs, six earned runs, four walks two strikeouts. Harvey threw 63 pitches, just 34 for strikes. Over his last two starts he has pitched a total of 6 2/3 innings giving up 13 hits, 12 runs (11 earned) with six walks and five strikeouts. His ERA has jumped from 1.68 to 3.13 in those two outings.
