O's game blog: Orioles look for a three-game sweep against the Angels

The Orioles will try to complete their first three-game home sweep against the Angels tonight since Aug. 3-5, 2010. The Orioles have won back-to-back one-run games to take the first two games of this series and they are 9-3 against the Angels since 2013. The Orioles are 19-10 (.655) against the American League West, which is the best record in the league against that division. Bud Norris (8-7, 3.94) gets the start tonight against Angels' lefty Tyler Skaggs (5-5, 4.49 ERA). In five career starts against the Angels, Norris is 4-0 with an ERA of 0.52, allowing two earned runs in 34 2/3 innings. He got the win last Monday in Anaheim, allowing two runs (one earned) over 6 2/3. Norris was acquired one year ago today. In his 28 games (26 starts) for the O's, Norris is 12-10 with a 4.23 ERA with 58 walks and 133 strikeouts. The Orioles are 4-1 against Los Angeles, and the Angels are batting just .192 and slugging .273 with 16 runs in the season series. O's pitchers have an ERA of 2.49 in the five games. Mike Trout and Albert Pujols are batting a combined .200 (8-for-40) with one homer and three RBIs against the Orioles for the season. The Orioles have gone 29-16 in 45 games since June 9, with the rotation posting a 3.18 ERA in that time. Since June 9, the rotation ERA has gone from 4.61 to 3.98 for the season. The Orioles are 41-9 when they score first and their winning percentage of .820 is the best in the majors.
