O's headed to the AFL

Here is the Orioles' list of players heading to the Arizona Fall League: They are position players Brandon Snyder, Josh Bell and Matt Angle and pitchers Brandon Erbe, Ryohei Tanaka, Josh Perrault and Eddie Gamboa. Brandon Waring will go as a "taxi squad" player, meaning he can play two days a week. The O's prospects will play for the Phoenix Desert Dogs, the team that has won the last five AFL championships and will be joined by players from the A's, Rays, Blue Jays and Nationals. The team's manager will be Gary Cathcart from Toronto, the pitching coach will be R.C. Lictenstein from Tampa and the hitting coach is Brian McArn from Oakland. The O's Pat Wesley of the Frederick Keys will be one of the teams' two trainers. There are six teams in the AFL and they begin play on Tuesday October 13 with the season ending with the championship game on November 21st. Snyder is batting .300-12-83 in 118 games this season between Bowie and Norfolk. He played in the AFL last year, batting .349-4-10 in 17 games. Bell is batting .299-16-64 this season between two Double-A teams. In 17 games with Bowie, he is hitting .317-5-12. Angle is batting .289-1-32 for the Frederick Keys this summer with 36 steals in 117 games. Waring leads all O's minor leaguers in homers and RBI and is batting .276-25-87 in 123 games with Frederick. Erbe is 3-3, 2.40 in 12 starts with Bowie. Tanaka is 4-2, 2.27 in 18 games, nine starts for Bowie. Perrault has pitched for Bowie and Norfolk this summer and is 1-4, 2.22 with 17 saves. Gamboa is now with Bowie after pitching earlier for Delmarva and Frederick. His combined stats show a record of 10-0 and ERA of 1.20. In 34 games, he has pitched 75 innings with 13 walks and 66 strikeouts.
