O's notes on Davis, Morse, pitching and more

The Orioles six-game home winning streak against the Yankees ended with last night's 7-5 loss, but they will try to start a new one tonight. The win streak was the longest for the O's at home vs. the Yankees since they took 10 in a row at Memorial Stadium from 1981-1983. The Orioles lead the season series 9-8 with New York with two games to play. The Orioles are 18-13 in their last 31 regular season games against New York. More notes on the O's: * Chris Davis had two hits last night, including his 49th homer, after batting just .162 in his last 10 games. Davis has hit three homers over his last 14 games, 12 in the last 38 and 27 in the last 75. * Michael Morse is 0-for-10 in his last four games and batting .176 (3-for-17) as an Oriole without an extra-base hit or an RBI yet. * Coming off a five-hit shutout on Friday against Chicago, Scott Feldman is 3-1 with a 1.36 ERA over his last five starts. In 33 innings during that stretch he has allowed 23 hits for a .195 average against with 10 walks and 25 strikeouts. * His mound opponent, Andy Pettitte, is pitching very well recently also. He is 3-0 with an ERA of 1.71 over his last five starts. * Pettitte is 28-6 with an ERA of 3.52 in his career against Baltimore and his 28 wins are second most ever against the Orioles. Whitey Ford had 30. * O's starting pitchers have an ERA of 2.75 in the six games on this homestand with just three walks and 38 strikeouts over 39 1/3 innings. * Orioles pitchers have now struck out 10 or more batters for four games in a row to tie a club record set June 7-9, 1966. Yes, that was a long time ago. The O's have recorded 12 strikeouts in three-straight games vs. New York for the first time in franchise history. In the six games of this homestand, the Orioles have a 59 to 6 strikeout to walk ratio.
