O's set club record with seventh straight win at Fenway

For the first time in Baltimore Orioles history, the club has a seven-game winning streak at Boston's Fenway Park. The Orioles won a tense pitchers' duel 2-1 over Boston tonight, as Wei-Yin Chen got the win and the O's came up with a two-run rally against Josh Beckett in the top of the sixth after they were shut out on one hit through five innings. The Orioles had won six in a row at Fenway Park four times previously, with the most recent being July 31, 1992-June 12, 1993. Chen gave up only a third-inning run and over seven innings, he allowed seven hits with no walks and four strikeouts, throwing 100 pitches. He improves to 5-2 with an ERA of 3.49. Chen had pitched to an ERA of 7.31 over his three starts entering tonight. Pedro Strop walked two, but pitched out of that jam in the eighth and one night after Jim Johnson suffered his first blown save of the season, picked up his 18th on the year tonight. He got the Red Sox 1-2-3 to protect the lead in the last of the ninth. Wilson Betemit and Ryan Flaherty led off the sixth with back-to-back singles to put runners at first and third. Robert Andino followed with an RBI single to right to tie the game and end a 13-game RBI drought. The next hitter, Endy Chavez, hit a grounder to second and a run scored for an RBI and 2-1 lead. Beckett gave up the two runs and five hits over eight innings to take the loss and fall to 4-6 with an ERA of 4.04. The Orioles have taken the first two games of this series to end a four-series losing streak and move back into sole possession of first place in the AL East, by virtue of Tampa Bay's 4-1 loss to the Yankees tonight. The O's improve to 32-24 on the year, 18-11 in road games and 6-2 against Boston. The Orioles are now 12-3 in their last 15 games against the Red Sox and 5-0 this year in Boston.
