O's win their 100th straight game when leading after seven innings

The last time the Orioles faced R.A. Dickey he pitched a one-hit shutout with 13 strikeouts against them. Tonight they used a big inning to beat the knuckleballer and the Toronto Blue Jays 4-3 in front of 13,272 at Camden Yards. The win was the Orioles' 100th consecutive in the regular season when leading after seven innings. The last loss came on Aug. 8, 2011. Jim Johnson pitched the ninth to record his eighth save in eight chances this year and his 29th consecutive save dating to last July 30. That is the second-longest streak in club history behind the 34 in a row by Randy Myers during the 1997 season. The Orioles struck for a four-run second against Dickey. The inning featured a Matt Wieters RBI single, Nolan Reimold sac fly and two-run single from Manny Machado. Machado now has eight RBIs over his last eight games. Miguel Gonzalez was sailing along with a shutout on 59 pitches through five innings and then he got the first two outs in the sixth. But things changed quickly as back-to-back walks were followed by an Edwin Encarnacion three-run homer as Toronto moved within 4-3. Gonzalez improved to 2-1 with the victory. The Orioles are 7-1 over his last eight starts and 14-5 in his 19 career starts. Brian Matusz replaced Gonzalez to start the seventh. Over six innings, Gonzalez gave up five hits and three runs with three walks and four strikeouts. The Orioles remain the only team in baseball to not yet have a seven-inning outing from a starting pitcher. With the win, the Orioles improved to 6-2 on this homestand and 4-3 in one-run games. They have won five of their last six games to move to a season-high four games over .500 at 12-8. They are 9-5 against the AL East and have now won four of five series within the division.
