Orioles down 11-2 in seventh (O's lose 12-5)

Well, at least it didn't rain.

The Orioles are trailing the Blue Jays 11-2 in the seventh inning. Rule 5 pick Jason Garcia just allowed a run in the top of the sixth on a walk, single and sacrifice fly.

Garcia went to a full count on the first two batters, walking Jose Bautista and striking out Edwin Encarnacion on a 93 mph fastball. Josh Donaldson singled on an 84 mph slider and Dioner Navarro lifted a sacrifice fly to left field.

Justin Smoak walked on four pitches, bringing pitching coach Dave Wallace to the mound. Kevin Pillar flied out on the next pitch, the 24th thrown by Garcia in the inning.

Brad-Brach.jpgNo one is warming in the Orioles bullpen, so Garcia will come back out for the seventh.

Brad Brach was charged with two runs and five hits in two innings, with no walks and three strikeouts. He also let three inherited runners score.

Brach has surrendered four runs and nine hits in three innings over three appearances, with no walks and five strikeouts. He's out of options and the Orioles need him to get back to the form that made him such a valuable reliever last season.

Garcia, making his first home appearance and his second in the majors, had allowed one run and one hit in two innings. He has also walked three batters.

Adam Jones had driven in both Orioles runs with a homer and RBI single. He's 3-for-3 today and is a triple short of the cycle. However, he was thrown out trying to stretch his single into a double with two outs in the fifth and the Orioles down 10-2.

Travis Snider has singled twice and is 6-for-12 with three RBIs and three walks this season. If he feels any pressure replacing Nick Markakis in right field, it doesn't show in the least.

Update: Wesley Wright gave up a run in the ninth and the Orioles trail 12-4.

Jose Reyes had a sacrifice fly.

The Orioles scored twice in the eighth on Delmon Young's single and Manny Machado's double play grounder.

Jones led off with his fourth hit and Chris Davis doubled. Jones has 14 career four-hit games.

Machado is 0-for-12 this season.

Update II: Jonathan Schoop led off the bottom of the ninth with a home run to close out a 12-5 loss.

The Orioles have lost two straight and are 2-2. The Blue Jays are 3-1.
