Orioles entering the third day of workouts

SARASOTA, Fla. - So what's on the agenda today? Barring something unforeseen, the Orioles will announce that they've signed Korean pitcher Suk-min Yoon, who has passed his physical, according to sources. It just hadn't been made "official" as of late last night. A press conference is expected to be held on Monday. Otherwise, it's Day 3 business as usual. Players will take the field at 10 a.m. for the pre-workout stretch. Pitchers will perform more fielding drills and throw bullpen sessions. Hitters will take batting practice and try not to dent any cars. Catcher Johnny Monell tweeted that he finally arrived in Sarasota last night. Pitcher Alfredo Aceves also is expected in camp, the last of the no-shows. I'll check on Miguel Gonzalez's back after spasms forced him out of yesterday's workout. Dylan Bundy will extend his flat-ground session to 150 feet. Alexi Casilla will provide another reminder that, as the Jackson 5 told us, you never can say goodbye. I didn't expect to find Casilla in the Orioles' clubhouse after they declined his $3 million option for 2014, but they signed him to a minor league contract with a spring invite. He's back. "The team had an option, so I didn't know," he said. "In my mind, they did the right thing. I knew that they weren't going to take the option, but I knew they were going to offer something to me. "At some point, all baseball players go through that situation. That situation came to me this year. I was waiting for a contract and I was feeling the pressure. You feel kind of scared and (think) no one is interested in me. You've just got to believe and keep doing whatever you're doing in your control and wait for it." Casilla waited until Jan. 10. "Yeah, it was pretty late," he said. "It was mid-January, so I had a couple of options to choose. I chose the Orioles because I already knew the team. I wanted to be with my teammates and I didn't want to try something else. You know, I just chose to stay here." Casilla has a solid chance to make the club as a utility infielder. He could back up at second base, shortstop and third. He could get some starts at second if Manny Machado begins the season on the disabled list and Ryan Flaherty is needed at third. "Like always, I'm prepared for whatever happens and I'm just ready to go and take advantage of any opportunity I receive," said Casilla, who batted .214/.268/.295 in 62 games last season. "Just practicing hard and when it comes time to play, I've got to be ready. I think I'm ready. I've been working a lot in the offseason and I'm ready to compete."
