Orioles option left-hander T.J. McFarland to Triple-A Norfolk, select the contract of right-hander Chaz Roe from Triple-A Norfolk

The Orioles today announced that they have optioned left-hander T.J. McFarland to Triple-A Norfolk. In a corresponding move, the Orioles have selected the contract of right-hander Chaz Roe from Triple-A Norfolk. Additionally, left-hander Wesley Wright has been transferred to the 60-day disabled list.

McFarland, 25, was recalled on May 8 and has made five relief appearances while fanning eight over 5 innings.

Roe, 28, has gone 3-1 with a 2.19 ERA (6 ER/24 2/3 IP) with 22 strikeouts over 17 relief appearances with the Tides this season. He owns a 51-52 record with a 4.33 ERA over 297 appearances (136 starts) over 11 minor league seasons. Roe has made 24 major league relief appearances in his career, including 21 with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2013 and three with the New York Yankees in 2014. Roe will wear number 65.

Wright, 30, was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left trapezius strain on April 11 after making two appearances and notching a 5.40 ERA over 1 2/3 innings.
