Orioles promote Bradish to Triple-A

The Orioles are bumping one of their top pitching prospects to a higher level.

Right-hander Kyle Bradish, part of the return from the Angels in the Dylan Bundy trade in December 2019, has been promoted from Double-A Bowie to Triple-A Norfolk.

Bradish, 24, made three starts with the Baysox in his first season above Single-A and dominated with 13 2/3 scoreless innings, seven hits allowed, five walks and 26 strikeouts. Opponents batted .149 against him.

MLBPipeline.com ranks Bradish as the No. 12 prospect in the system with an estimated arrival in the majors at 2022. Today's promotion could accelerate it.

The Angels selected Bradish in the fourth round of the 2018 draft out of New Mexico State and he was the highest rated prospect among the four obtained from the Angels.

Scouts and talent evaluators note that Bradish has a lot of moving parts in his delivery, which haven't prevented him from jumping to the next level.

Mike Baumann, the organization's seventh-ranked prospect, has completed the first portion of his injury rehab assignment. He's moving up from Single-A Delmarva to Bowie after tossing five scoreless and hitless innings in two appearances. He walked three batters and struck out six.

Baumann was shut down due to a recurrence of the soreness in his right forearm/elbow that surfaced at the alternate camp site last summer. He threw in spring training, but didn't appear in an exhibition game.

The Orioles drafted Baumann, 25, in the third round in 2017 out of Jacksonville University.

The plan is to get Baumann into Norfolk's rotation, giving it the shape envisioned a few months ago. Baumann would join Bradish, Zac Lowther and Alexander Wells.

Left-handers Bruce Zimmermann and Keegan Akin currently remain on the Orioles staff. Zimmermann starts today in D.C. and Akin has been assigned a relief role.
