The Orioles today announced that they have signed free agent left-hander Wesley Wright to a one-year contract.
Wright, 29, posted a 3.17 ERA (48.1IP, 17ER) in 58 games for the Cubs in 2014, his third straight season making 55 or more appearances. He held left-handed hitters to a .594 OPS, not allowing an extra-base hit to a lefty in 85 plate appearances. Wright also allowed a career-low 0.4 home runs per 9.0 innings on the season.
Originally selected by the Dodgers in the 7th round of the 2003 First Year Player Draft, Wright has gone 10-18 with a 4.17 ERA (299.2IP, 139ER) in 360 big league games since 2008, holding lefties to a line of .238/.315/.331 in 591 plate appearances in that time.
With this move, the Orioles 40-man roster is now full.
