Before Wednesday's game against the Red Sox, the Orioles and the office of Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan announced a partnership, which is raising funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Ronald McDonald House Charities in the fight against pediatric cancer. The O's fundraiser coincides with Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
Hogan is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment to fight non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
Hogan, along with children fighting cancer and representing both the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Ronald McDonald House Charities, watched the Orioles take batting practice. Hogan chatted with manager Buck Showalter and players donned #HoganStrong bracelets while taking BP.

The O's pregame ceremonies featured a very special first pitch. Cody Brown, 7, who is battling bone cancer, kicked off the evening with his first pitch.

The Orioles then presented a check for $50,000 to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Ronald McDonald House.
While the Orioles are working to raise awareness for childhood cancer, they are also giving fans the chance to be part of the effort. Fans can make a donation of any amount at orioles.com/charity. In an exclusive ticket offer, fans who contribute at least $10 to the cause receive a 50 percent discount on tickets for the series against the Jays from Sept. 28-Oct. 1. The offer was also made for those purchasing tickets to Wednesday's game.
Join Hogan and the Orioles by donating to the cause. Visit orioles.com/charity to purchase tickets or for more information.
"Since my diagnosis, I have met countless people fighting cancer, and many of them have been children with battles much more difficult than my own," Hogan said in a team-issued press release. "But even in the face of such unimaginable adversity, these kids are among the strongest people I have ever known. Their faith and bravery are an inspiration, not only to me and others with cancer, but to anyone facing a tough personal challenge. I am thrilled to join with the Orioles, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and the Ronald McDonald House to raise awareness for childhood cancer, and I encourage all Marylanders to get involved in this fight."
