Some notes and stats to ponder as the O's begin a seven-game road trip at New York tonight with Jeremy Guthrie (0-3, 4.70) vs. CC Sabathia (3-1, 3.12).
Ty Wigginton's performance to start the year has been rather stunning. He hit .273-11-41 in 410 at bats in 2009. He did hit 23 homers in 386 at bats with Houston in 2008.

Wigginton is batting .414 (12 for 29) over the last nine games and has hit six homers over his last 15 games and all eight of his homers this year in the past 17 games.
The Orioles are 3-10 on the road this year and are just 4-20 in their last 24 road games. They went 2-7 at Yankee Stadium last year and have lost 11 of their last 13 games at New York.
Clutch hitting is important:
*O's are batting .380 with runners in scoring position in their seven wins and .133 in their 18 losses.

The O's are playing a lot of close games, a higher percentage right now than last year. In 2009, they went 29-43 in games decided by two runs or less and now are 5-9 in those. That's 44 percent of the games played in 2009 and 56 percent so far this year.
When Ty Wigginton dropped a sac bunt in the 8th inning yesterday it was his first sac bunt since 2006 when he was with Tampa and the first of the year by the Orioles.
Fewest sac bunts in the AL:
1 - Orioles
2 - LAA & Toronto
