Orioles, Red Sox lineups and a bunch of notes

BOSTON - The Orioles are 16-9 at Fenway Park since the altercation between former reliever Kevin Gregg and David Ortiz on July 8, 2011. Coincidence? Probably, but it's still an interesting note. The Orioles are going for their fourth straight victory today, their longest streak since they won five in a row from July 14-22, 2013. Chris Davis is 8-for-18 with a home run against Red Sox left-hander Felix Doubront, and Nick Markakis is 6-for-13. However, Adam Jones is 2-for-19, Matt Wieters is 2-for-18 and J.J. All four plays challenged by opposing managers have gone in the Orioles' favor, but the one review initiated by umpires last night went against Baltimore. After setting major league records for fewest errors in a season (54), most errorless games in a season (119) and highest fielding percentage (.991) in 2013, the Orioles again lead the majors with a .995 fielding percentage and have made just three errors in 2014. All three of the miscues came on throws by third basemen filling in for Manny Machado. Jonathan Schoop committed two in the fourth inning on April 11 and Ryan Flaherty had one on April 2. The Orioles are on pace to make 32 errors in 2014 and have not made an error in seven road games. Four of Schoop's last six hits have been doubles. He's doubled in three straight games. Schoop's four hits last night were the most by an Oriole this season, and his three RBIs on April 9 in New York are the most by an Oriole in a game this year. Davis has reached base safely in 14 straight games and has two stolen bases, two shy of his career-high set in 2013. He's drawn eight walks and is on pace for 86. Markakis needs one more extra-base hit to tie Ken Singleton for eighth place on the Orioles' all-time list with 436. Darren O'Day picked up his first save last night. He hasn't allowed a run in his last 15 appearances dating back to Aug. 25, 2013. Over his last 27 appearances since July 30, 2013, the only runs O'Day has allowed in 23 1/3 innings have come on ninth-inning home runs by Coco Crisp (Aug. 24, 2013), Adam Eaton (Aug. 12, 2013) and Michael Saunders (Aug. 3, 2013). O'Day's 1.15 ERA in April is his lowest for any month. Miguel Gonzalez, Chris Tillman and Norris are listed as the starters in Toronto for the series that begins Tuesday night. No official word on Blue Jays starters.
