Overtime win at Fenway: Another impressive night for the Orioles

The Orioles finally pulled out the win in Fenway Park, thanks to another great performance by the bullpen and another big hit from Chris Davis. The 6-4 win in 13 innings gives the Orioles a record of 17-9 and they are eight games over the .500 mark for the first time since July 18, 2005. The Orioles continue to show some character and that they are resilient. They overcame a shaky outing by starter Wei-Yin Chen, some shaky early defense and got key outs when Boston put the winning run in scoring position in the ninth and tenth innings. They didn't let any of that beat them tonight. The Orioles' amazing bullpen, which began the night leading the AL in 'pen ERA at 1.73, recorded eight more scoreless innings of three-hit baseball. Meanwhile the Red Sox bullpen, which came in last in the AL with an ERA of 5.35, gave up three runs in the loss. Matt Lindstrom, Pedro Strop, Luis Ayala, Troy Patton and Jim Johnson combined for the scoreless 'pen work tonight. Here are some updated bullpen stats: * No earned runs allowed over the last six games covering 17 2/3 innings. * Just three earned runs over the last 17 games and 51 2/3 for ERA of 0.52 in that stretch. * Bullpen ERA on the year down to 1.56 after tonight. Mark Reynolds hit his first homer tonight and Davis drove in the go-ahead run in the top of the 13th and he now has 10 RBIs over his last nine games. The Orioles improved to 17-9 on the year, 3-1 on this road trip, 9-5 in road games and 8-5 against the AL East. The Orioles are now 7-3 in their past 10 games against Boston. The Orioles have won five of their last six games, nine of their last 11 and the pitching staff has given up just 20 runs in the 11 games. It took quite a while tonight, but the Orioles picked up an impressive win in Fenway Park.
