Peaceful start to tonight's game in Toronto (O's lose 4-2)

The Orioles and Blue Jays have completed four innings tonight without the benches and bullpens emptying. No one has taken a fastball in the ribs. No one has gotten involved in a heated exchange.

All I'm saying is they're giving peace a chance.

One pitch from Blue Jays starter Alex Sanchez sailed over Caleb Joseph's head in the third inning, but it didn't appear to be intentional and Joseph didn't seem to take exception to it. He eventually walked and scored on Jimmy Paredes' first home run of the season.

Paredes walked in the first inning, and is 7-for-14 with two doubles and a home run since coming off the disabled list. If his spring stats were a fluke, he still hasn't been exposed. He looks legit.

Again, if you thought Paredes would have a monster spring and become the Orioles' designated hitter, you should write your own blog.

Ubaldo Jimenez took a shutout into the fourth inning before walking leadoff hitter Edwin Encarnacion and giving up a game-tying two-run homer to Justin Smoak, who was 1-for-15 against him. Jimenez hadn't allowed a run in 13 2/3 innings this season.

Orioles starters have gone 3 2/3, 5 1/3, five, 4 1/3 and 2 1/3 innings on the road trip. Jimenez is running up his pitch count tonight after issuing three walks in the fourth. The bullpen is going to be toast if this continues.

Joseph threw out 40 percent of runners attempting to steal last season, but he's 0-for-8 in 2015 after Devon Travis and Kevin Pillar swiped second base tonight. However, Joseph began tonight batting .361/.465/.556 with two doubles, a triple and a home run.

Alejandro De Aza struck out for the 17th time leading off the top of the first inning. Chris Davis drew his fourth walk later in the inning to go with his team-leading 22 strikeouts.

Steve Clevenger moved from catcher to second base tonight at Triple-A Norfolk. Rey Navarro, who had been on the disabled list with a groin injury, was a late scratch and Jayson Nix has a sore back.

The Orioles want Clevenger to concentrate on catching rather than be used in a utility role, but he's ditched the tools of ignorance tonight.

Zach Davies allowed one run and four hits in six innings, with one walk and six strikeouts, and lowered his ERA to 1.80.

Dariel Alvarez has homered in back-to-back games.

The Orioles today announced that Maryland chef Bryan Voltaggio will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at Camden Yards on Saturday, prepare a signature dish and sign copies of his new book, "HOME: Recipes to Cook with Family and Friends."

Voltaggio, a lifelong Orioles fan, is the executive chef and owner of nine restaurants, including VOLT, Lunchbox, RANGE, two locations of Aggio and four locations of Family Meal. He's the first chef to compete on both Top Chef and Top Chef Masters, earning status as a finalist on both programs.

Following the ceremonial first pitch, Voltaggio will sign copies of his book near Gate E and Home Plate Plaza from 7 p.m.-7:45 p.m. HOME is a tribute to the American comfort food Voltaggio enjoyed growing up in Maryland, elevated with sophisticated new recipes. Copies will be available for purchase for $35 plus tax.

At 7:45 p.m., Voltaggio will begin preparing his specialty chili cheese hot dog with aerated cheddar and scallions at the "O What a Dog" concession stand on the third base concourse for $9. All proceeds will benefit No Kid Hungry's work to end childhood hunger in America.

Voltaggio has raised more than one million dollars over the last five years to support No Kid Hungry's mission to ensure that kids start the day with a nutritious breakfast and have healthy meals in the summer, and families learn the skills they need to shop and cook on a budget.

Update: Jimenez lasted only five innings and fell behind 4-2.

Joseph threw out Russell Martin attempting to steal in the sixth, making him 1-for-9 this season.
