The Orioles' eight-man bullpen should be in good shape tonight with the off-day and only Tyler Wilson working more than 1 1/3 innings on opening day.
Wilson threw 38 pitches in three scoreless innings. Vance Worley and T.J. McFarland are available as long men if starter Yovani Gallardo makes an early exit against the Twins.
With the Orioles needing a fifth starter on Sunday, manager Buck Showalter's selection won't be available in relief after tonight.
Mychal Givens was awarded a hold on Monday despite being charged with two runs that tied the game. The second run scored on Kurt Suzuki's sacrifice fly off Brad Brach, who was tagged with a blown save.
More meaningless pitching stats.
Brach threw only 10 pitches on Monday, Darren O'Day 16 and Zach Britton 17. They certainly can be used tonight if needed.
Dylan Bundy never left the bullpen on Monday besides heading indoors during the second delay. His debut will mark his first major league appearance since Sept. 25, 2012 against the Blue Jays, when he allowed a hit and walked a batter in a scoreless inning.
Bundy walked J.P. Arencibia and gave up a single to Anthony Gose. Brett Lawrie flied out and Colby Rasmus grounded into a double play.
Nine months later, Bundy was undergoing ligament-reconstructive surgery on his right elbow.
Gallardo is 2-2 with a 3.14 ERA and 1.200 WHIP in eight career starts against the Twins over 51 2/3 innings. In his only career start at Camden Yards, Gallardo shut out the Orioles on two hits over six innings in the Rangers' 2-0 victory on July 2, 2015.
The current Twins are 18-for-52 (.346) against Gallardo, most of the damage coming from three players. Joe Mauer is 7-for-14 with four walks, Brian Dozier is 5-for-10 with a home run and four RBIs, and Trevor Plouffe is 3-for-9 with two home runs.
Gallardo is 15-10 with a 3.77 ERA and 1.320 WHIP in 40 career starts in March/April. His best month is June, when he's 17-11 with a 2.63 ERA and 1.178 WHIP in 40 starts.
Twins right-hander Kyle Gibson is 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA in three career starts against the Orioles, with five runs and 16 hits in 16 2/3 innings.
The current group is 10-for-40 against Gibson. J.J. Hardy is 2-for-5 with a home run, Jonathan Schoop is 2-for-4 with a double, Mark Trumbo is 1-for-5 with a home run, Manny Machado is 2-for-6 and Chris Davis is 0-for-5 with three walks and three strikeouts.
* Triple-A Norfolk defeated Norfolk State University 9-0 last night in a seven-inning exhibition game.
First baseman Joey Terdoslavich homered twice and drove in four runs. Steve Tolleson had a double and two RBIs, and Dariel Alvarez added an RBI double.
Pedro Beato, Oliver Drake, Chaz Roe, Cesar Cabral, Zach Phillips, Edgar Olmos and Richard Rodriguez combined to allow one hit and strike out 13 batters.
Only four starters have been confirmed by manager Ron Johnson: Odrisamer Despaigne, Nick Additon, Todd Redmond and Terry Doyle.
