Post-game Notes and Tillman quotes

We could not have seen this coming. Not after the Orioles scored 2, 3, 1, 3 and 3 runs in their last five games. Not after the Orioles were batting .163 their previous five games with runners in scoring positon and had just one ten-hit game in their last 8 contests. But they produced season highs in runs and hits and batted around twice tonight in a 16-6 win over the Angels. The night saw:
*Felix Pie become the fourth Oriole to ever hit for the cycle. *The O's tie the franchise record with 12 extra-base hits, first set August 17, 2008 at Detroit. *The O's tie the club record with nine doubles in one game. That was first set July 30, 1996 at Minnesota. The nine doubles is the most by a team in the Majors this year. *Brian Roberts tie a career-high with three doubles. Roberts increased his league-leading total to 43 doubles. *Nick Markakis reach base for the 34th straight game to tie his career high and extend his streak - the current longest in the Majors. The club record is 52 in a row set by Kevin Millar in 2007. *The Orioles scored in five different innings and had two players, Pie and Roberts, with four hits. Five Orioles had multi-hit games and five had multi-RBI contests. *The O's scored a season-high six runs in the first inning. The previous best was five at Detroit on August 3rd. *The O's win by ten runs to tie a season best. They also beat Washington by ten on June 26th. *Jered Weaver suffer his earliest outing of the year. He gave up a season-high eight runs in 3 1/3 innings. *The O's go 19 for 41 at bat (.463) with nine doubles, two triples and one homer. They went 11 for 22 with runners in scoring position. He has pitched to an ERA of 3.38 over his last two starts. After the game, Tillman talked about his first ML win: "It means a lot. The Angels were my favorite team growing up my whole life. It's good to get the first win out of the way, especially against a team like that. Seems like they all are hitting .300. "It was huge to have another good outing. It's every kid's dream to pitch in the big leagues. It was also awesome to watch Felix tonight, what a special night for him. "I didn't feel like I threw bad (in the first inning). Vladdy hit a ball that bounced. Should have been three outs, but that kind of stuff happens. That inning shortened my outing." The O's are now 30-28 at home, 38-12 when they out-hit their opponent, 2-5 vs. LA and 8-19 since the All-Star break.
