Post-game Notes: Berken and O's top Toronto

Two starts ago Jason Berken left his start vs. Kansas City with a lead after giving up two runs over six innings, only to see his potential win go by the board when the Royals tied the game. Tonight, when he got the lead the O's kept it and Berken got his second win of the year as the Orioles beat Toronto. Berken beat the same team May 26th in his Major League debut. He was 0-9 over his last 12 starts until getting this win. It was his third quality start of the year as he allowed five hits and three runs over six frames. Berken is now 2-9, 6.72. Has his way with the Jays - Berken is 2-1, 3.78 in three starts vs. Toronto. The O's improve to 3-11 when Berken starts and they broke an eight-start losing streak in his outings tonight. Rookie of the Year candidate Ricky Romero has five losses on the year and two have come vs. Baltimore. Romero is 0-2, 5.59 in three starts vs. the Orioles. The Jays fall to 11-7 in Romero starts. They got one - Tonight was just the O's third win all year in an AL East opponent ballpark. The Birds improve to 3-16 on the year in AL East road games and are 4-27 in their last 31 division road contests. After suffering 10 of their past 14 losses by two runs or less, tonight the Orioles won by a two-run margin. They are 11-14 on the year in two-run decisions. The O's improve to 6-4 on the season vs. Toronto, including a 1-3 mark at Rogers Centre. The O's have won six of the last seven between the teams. Toronto falls to 12-25 in games vs. AL foes and has lost nine of its last 11 division games. The real deal - Matt Wieters went 2 for 3 with an RBI tonight. He is batting .360 (18 for 50) with 5 RBI over his last 14 games. Aubrey Huff had two hits and an RBI and is 9 for 25 during a six-game hitting streak. Nolan Reimold was 1 for 4 with 2 RBI and that's his 9th multi-RBI game of the year. Reimold is 4 for 28 over the last eight games. Nick Markakis began tonight with 76 RBI, tied for 5th in the league. He drove in two runs tonight and has 12 RBI over his last ten games and 21 in the last 21 contests. The Blue Jays fall to a season-worst six games under .500. They are 0-3 on their current homestand and are just 5-12 over the last 17 home games. O's pitching allowed two homers tonight. The O's have given up a homer in 10 of the last 11 games and have given up a total of 19 home runs in that stretch. The O's are now 15-27 vs. the AL East, 2-5 in August, 6-15 since the All-Star break and 22-28 in games decided by two runs or less.
