Postgame comments from Wieters, Roberts and Chen (Aberdeen eliminated)

After the Orioles sixth walkoff win of the year, Matt Wieters talked about his two-out, two-run single that pushed the Orioles past Chicago today 4-3 in 10 innings. The O's were 1-for-17 with runners in scoring before his game-winning hit. "Just keep getting opportunities, that is all you can ask for," Wieters said. "Whether you succeed or not, you want that next opportunity to come to you. "It was a slider and I swung at a slider the AB before on a pitch I felt I could have done something with. Just tried to stay back and find some outfield grass. We knew we were still in it to the end and it was a big win for us." Could this be the start of something bigger for the Orioles? "We hope so," Wieters said. "We have to keep winning. It's go time now. There is no more get them later. It's go now and make our run." Brian Roberts, who homered in the fifth, talked about the O's finally getting the big hit after an afternoon of mostly frustration on offense. "With all the guys we left out there with less than two outs, you know, I guess you figured it would take someone to do it with two outs," Roberts said. "That was huge. For us to comeback like nothing happened after the homer (in the top of the 10th), hopefully this is one of the days you'll look back on and say that was huge. "It's a cliche that teams don't quit and play all the outs but that is what good teams do. They fight and battle and really do try to grind out every out and today was a perfect example of that. Everything is important from here on out," Roberts said. Wei-Yin Chen gave up six hits and two runs for the O's in six innings today after allowing 11 runs over 7 2/3 in his two most recent starts. "Today was a different outing," Chen said through his interpeter. "Last outing I was really focused on my velocity and I overthrew a lot. But today I just focused on the plate and just focused on (Chris) Snyder's mitt and attacking the zone. I didn't really worry about my velocity, I just worried about my location, And pretty much my location was really good today." Could he have pitched longer than six innings today? "I trust Buck. I trust Buck's decisions. And being able to go out there and bring a win for the team, that's huge for us. Every game is really important to us. And I think today is a huge win for us," Chen said. IronBirds' season ends: The short-season Single-A Aberdeen IronBirds lost 3-0 at Tri-City tonight and were eliminated from the New York-Penn League playoffs two games to none in the league semifinals. In their first trip to the playoffs, the IronBirds were shut out in both games. O's top pick Hunter Harvey had a strong outing tonight and gets a no-decision. He went five innings without allowing a hit or a run. He hit two batters, but didn't walk anyone and fanned seven. Aberdeen starters pitched 13 1/3 scoreless innings in the series. Congrats to the IronBirds on a division title and playoff berth, but their season ended tonight at Bruno Stadium in Troy, N.Y.
