Rain delay update and more notes

Rain continues to fall at Camden Yards and the tarp remains on the field. However, we've been told that tonight's game will start at approximately 8:05 p.m. Sounds like a one-hour rain delay to me. Also, executive vice president Dan Duquette will meet with reporters in the back of the press box at 7:55 p.m. to discuss Dylan Bundy's pending elbow surgery. Jim Johnson's next save will be the 100th of his career. His 99 career saves are fourth-most in Orioles history, trailing Gregg Olson (160), Tippy Martinez (105) and Stu Miller (100). When Johnson reaches 100 saves, he will become the seventh active major league pitcher to record that total with his current club, joining Mariano Rivera (634), Jose Valverde (119), Carlos Marmol (117), Craig Kimbrel (111), John Axford (106) and Chris Perez (105). Since taking over the closer role for the Orioles in September 2011, Johnson has 85 saves in 92 chances for a 92.4 percent success rate. Orioles second basemen have hit three home runs in the last five games: Ryan Flaherty on June 21 and 23 and Alexi Casilla last night. The last time the Orioles had more than three homers in a five game span from their second baseman was Aug. 19-23, 2009 when Brian Roberts hit four in five games. Flaherty's second homer on Sunday came as a shortstop. Chris Davis has six home runs against left-handed pitching this year, one shy of his career high set last year. Davis hit his ninth homer of June last night, extending his streak of consecutive months with at least nine homers to three. According to Elias, the last Oriole to hit at least nine homers in three straight months in one season was Rafael Palmeiro in 1998 (May-July). According to Elias, Davis is just the fifth player since 2001 to have 28 or more homers by the end of June, joining Albert Pujols (2009), Alex Rodriguez (2007), Barry Bonds (2001) and Luis Gonzalez (2001). Davis' 28 homers are the most in franchise history by the end of June, breaking Brady Anderson's mark of 27 in 1996. Down on the farm, Brian Roberts walked tonight in his first at-bat with Triple-A Norfolk.
