Rays get their home run swing back in Baltimore

The Tampa Bay Rays entered this series in Baltimore trailing the Orioles' Chris Davis in homers for the season. Davis had six and the entire Rays roster had five heading into Monday's series opener. But in the first 11 innings of this series, Tampa Bay hit five homers and they have now moved ahead of Davis on the year, 10-6 in the homer race. Desmond Jennings led off last night's game with a first-pitch homer off Jake Arrieta, and Tampa hit two in the eighth off Pedro Strop, with Kelly Johnson and Evan Longoria connecting. Tonight, Johnson homered in the first off Chris Tillman and Shelley Duncan hit a solo shot in the second off Tillman. With that homer, the Rays had hit four in the last four innings going back to last night. So Tampa now has hit 10 on the year if you are trying to keep track, and eight have come against the Orioles pitching staff. Adam Jones hit a homer of his own - a two-run shot in the last of the third - to tie the game 2-2. They were the first runs allowed this season by Tampa lefty Matt Moore. It became untied on a two-run double by James Loney in the top of the fourth. He lined a pitch into center field with runners on second and third and Jones tried to short hop the ball and it got by him. It was not ruled a hit and an error though, it was ruled as a two-run double. The Rays scored four runs and lost last night. They have four and lead tonight.
