Reimold optimistic about injury and Hammel still looking for fastball command

Nolan Reimold doesn't feel he will have to miss any games after leaving today's game because of tightness in his right hamstring suffered when he grounded into a double play in the sixth. "I just had a little cramp, spasm whatever you want to call it that kept getting tighter and tighter," Reimold said. "Sprinted out to first to try and beat out that double play. Think (Wayne) Kirby could tell it was bothering me. Probably a smart idea to come in and evaluate it." Could it turn into a more lengthy injury and go beyond a day-to-day thing? "No. It's just a little cramp, spasm, whatever. I'll be all right," Reimold said after going 1-for-3 in the O's loss to Minnesota. "I came in here and did some ice and stim and calmed it down. It's still a little tight still, but it's not cramping up anymore. It should be all right." Pitcher Jason Hammel, who was very critical of his first outing against Tampa Bay, was still not pleased with some aspects of his game today after giving up four runs and four hits over 6 2/3 innings. "Comes back to fastball command," Hammel said. "I have not been locating my fastball the way I should be. Other than that, felt like I made some good pitches when I needed to. Have to learn how to close out there in the seventh. "It was a little better. Still have got to get the glove-side fastball. It's been very inconsistent in these first two. Have to keep working on that." The fly ball that fell in the O's outfield in the top of the third cost him two runs today. "Adam (Jones) is not trying to miss that ball. Sometimes you lose it in a tough sky," Hammel said. So the Orioles are 3-3 on the year and 1-1 in series as they head out on a seven-game road trip through Boston and New York. "You want to win series. That is how you get deeper into the year with a good chance to play in October," Hammel said. "But last year we started out 3-0 and then we lost three straight to the Yankees. So it's not new territory. We are where we need to be. Playing tight games as usual. Boston is going to be ready for us when we get there. It's a series loss but plenty of baseball left."
