Revere plays seven innings for Syracuse, steals a base

Ben Revere returned to the Syracuse lineup Sunday, playing seven innings in center field, as the Chiefs dropped Pawtucket 5-4 in 10 innings.

Revere grounded out to shortstop, reached on a fielder's choice and grounded out to the pitcher in three at-bats.

The Chiefs begin a three-game set Monday night at home against Rochester. After playing five innings in back-to-back games, Revere had the day off Saturday before playing seven innings Sunday.

One scenario would have Revere play seven innings Monday, have Tuesday off and then play nine innings in the Wednesday morning game. Then he could catch a later flight that day to Chicago to rejoin the Nationals.

The Nationals are in Kansas City for three games and then begin a four-game set against the Cubs Thursday.

Manager Dusty Baker had said last week if everything goes well, they hoped Revere would be able to return to the Nationals Thursday against the Cubs. Revere has been recovering from a strained right oblique that has kept him out of the lineup since April 5.
