Roberto Alomar talks about being inducted into the Orioles Hall of Fame

When he took the field tonight at Camden Yards, Roberto Alomar got another nice ovation in Baltimore as he was officially inducted into the Orioles Hall of Fame in a pregame ceremony. "It was special playing for the Orioles organization and my teammates," he said at a press conference after the ceremony. "We had great ballclubs with some great chemistry. The fans were great with sold-out crowds almost every game. It was fun to play here. This is a day I will remember for the rest of my life." Alomar played on two playoff clubs in his three Orioles seasons from 1996-98. Alomar's .312 career average with the Orioles is the highest among all players in franchise history with at least 1,200 at-bats for the team, and he ranks ninth all-time in slugging percentage (.480). Alomar was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in his second year of eligibility in 2011. He is a 12-time All-Star and 10-time Gold Glove winner. With the Orioles, Alomar won Gold Glove Awards in 1996 and 1998 and a Silver Slugger Award in 1996. He was elected to the All-Star Game in each of his three seasons with the club. Additionally, he was named Most Valuable Player of the 1998 All-Star Game in Colorado. Former Orioles scout and baseball operations executive Don Pries was also inducted as this year's Herb Armstrong Award winner. Alomar had some very nice things to say tonight in adding the O's Hall of Fame to the honor in Cooperstown. "They are all special. I only played here for three years, I wasn't expecting that call from the Orioles, but this is special," he said. "I know Cooperstown is the biggest, but to me, being part of this organization and being part of the Hall of Fame for the Orioles is a dream come true for me."
