Rodriguez and DeJesus Jr. reassigned to minor league camp (with quotes)

SARASOTA, Fla. - The Orioles made two more roster moves today, reassigning left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez and infielder Ivan DeJesus Jr. to minor league camp. The Orioles now have 47 players at their major league camp. Rodriguez allowed two runs in two innings today. He's expected to be assigned to Double-A Bowie. Rodriguez surrendered eight runs and 12 hits in six spring innings, with two walks, six strikeouts and two home runs. "It's been good for him," said manager Buck Showalter. "He's better than he was last year here. I think he's primed to go out and have a good season. He presented himself well, a little better than last year. He's right where he needs to be. I think he got everything that he needed to get out of this. "I think the time he's spent here with Johan (Santana) has been really good. He was in the dugout with him today, talking about. You see it. He doesn't present the look of being intimidated by what's going on. He's got a healthy respect for it. "He has a chance to be a good one. He's right where he needs to be at 21 years old. He's just starting his junior year of college. I try to keep that in mind. That's about where he is in our college." Zach Britton was scheduled to only throw one inning today because he had a light work day yesterday. That's the primary reason why he came out after seven pitches in the third inning. However, manager Showalter also wanted to take a look at Britton in that type of relief situation, just in case he's in the bullpen on opening day. Britton is out of options and is a candidate to be used in relief or traded if he doesn't win a spot in the rotation. "I wanted to see him in that look a little bit, too," Showalter said. "We'll see look to give him multiple innings when they're there, but also to get looks at that, too. He handled that pretty well today, didn't he? That was pretty good. Glad Dave (Wallace) and Dom (Chiti) are getting to see him like he's capable. They've heard me say it enough." Darren O'Day threw seven or eight changeups today during his one inning of work. Suk-min Yoon was supposed to fly back here today, but his flight was canceled due to weather. He's got an 8 a.m. flight Thursday morning. Yoon is scheduled to make his debut on Saturday. Showalter said he invited Cal Ripken Jr. to come back to camp this spring. "You never get to spend as much as you'd like to with Cal," Showalter said. "You can tell he likes being here. It's just that he's so busy. I invited him back. "I think Cal wants to come for a day. It's tough for him to break out a week or two because he's got so many things pulling on him. We'll take him any way." Short-season Single-A Aberdeen pitching coach Alan Mills will report to the minor league complex on Thursday. Showalter thought Ubaldo Jimenez was being squeezed by plate umpire Jeff Gosney, contributing to the four runs allowed in two innings. "I thought Jimenez was pretty good," Showalter said. "He was the victim of some challenges that you face from time to time." Nolan Reimold had a single, home run and walk today. He also lined into a double play. "After the breaking ball base hit over at Pirate City, he's looking more hitterish each at-bat, so that's good to see," Showalter said. "I thought he had a lot of good at-bats today. He squared up a couple. I thought the line drive to third base was a better at-bat than the home run."
