Rutschman update, new relievers and lineup (updated with moves)

The Orioles announced today that catcher Adley Rutschman is joining short-season Single-A Aberdeen on Saturday, as reported earlier this week.

There's your confirmation.

Rutschman caught today and went 0-for-3 with an RBI, walk and throwing error. He's 3-for-14 with a home run, three RBIs and a stolen base in five Rookie-level Gulf Coast League games.

The IronBirds are hosting Hudson Valley at Ripken Stadium, with first pitch Saturday at 6:05 p.m.

The Orioles haven't announced their roster moves, but relievers Dillon Tate and Evan Phillips are in Anaheim.

Tate, acquired from the Yankees in the Zack Britton trade, hasn't pitched since July 20. He's registered a 1.67 ERA and 0.85 WHIP with a .179 average against in 15 relief appearances over 27 innings.

Tate is primed to make his major league debut.

Meanwhile, Chance Sisco is behind the plate tonight in Anaheim after Pedro Severino caught 16 innings last night in a wild 10-8 win over the Angels.

Jace Peterson is starting at second base. Renato Núñez is the third baseman and Dwight Smith Jr. is the designated hitter.

Stevie Wilkerson is in center field. Not the bullpen.

Wojciechowski-Delivers-Gray-Day-sidebar.jpgAsher Wojciechowski is making his first start since carrying a no-hitter into the seventh inning Sunday afternoon against the Red Sox. He allowed one hit, walked two batters and struck out 10 in 7 1/3 scoreless.

Wojciechowski has never faced the Angels. Tommy La Stella is 2-for-4 and Brian Goodwin is 1-for-4 with a home run.

The Angels were supposed to start right-hander Griffin Canning, but he was needed last night in relief and took the loss after allowing five runs over the last two innings. Right-hander Nick Tropeano has been recalled to take his place.

Tropeano is making his first start this season. In two relief appearances he's allowed eight runs and 12 hits with five home runs in 8 2/3 innings.

He's pitched for the Angels on May 28 and June 9.

Smith is 1-for-3 with a home run against Tropeano.
