Schoop does it again (updated)

SARASOTA, Fla. - That's two intrasquad games and two home runs for Orioles second baseman Jonathan Schoop. Schoop drove an 0-1 pitch from Bud Norris over the left-center field fence in the top of the first inning, the ball slamming off the wooden television platform. An absolute bomb. Schoop drilled a two-run shot off Steve Johnson in yesterday's game. Francisco Peguero singled off Norris, but Steve Pearce grounded into a double play. Henry Urrutia lined to center field leading off the inning. Norris threw 11 pitches, eight for strikes. Schoop hit one home run in 14 at-bats with the Orioles last season. He had nine homers in 270 at-bats at Triple-A Norfolk, all of them coming away from Harbor Park, where the fences have been moved in this year. Schoop also collected three homers with the Gulf Coast Orioles and two with short-season Single-A Aberdeen while on his injury-rehab assignment. Wei-Yin Chen struck out Delmon Young leading off the bottom of the first inning to end a 12-pitch battle. Jemile Weeks singled and Cord Phelps grounded into a double play. Chen threw 17 pitches, 13 for strikes. Update: Urrutia singled off Josh Stinson leading off the top of the third inning, driving a pitch into center field. None of that opposite-field stuff from him this spring. Urrutia stole second, moved to third on an error and scored on Steve Pearce's single. Stinson reached his pitch count with only one out. He struck out Schoop after Urrutia's single. Tommy Hunter gave up a single to Adam Jones in a scoreless bottom of the second. He threw eight pitches, five for strikes. The visitors scored a run off Evan Meek in the top of the second when Michael Ohlman walked, David Lough singled and Ivan DeJesus Jr. bounced into a 1-6-3 double play. Julio Borbon reached on an infield and stole second. Nelson Cruz grounded to pitcher T.J. McFarland in the bottom of the third, after Chris Davis grounded out. McFarland retired the side in order on nine pitches, six for strikes.
