SI covering Davis (O's down 7-2)

Orioles first baseman Chris Davis better not believe in the Sports Illustrated cover jinx or he won't want to leave the house.
Davis is being featured on one of the Aug. 26 regional covers, with a profile written by Tom Verducci.
As soon as I tweeted this information, Davis was hit by an Alex Cobb pitch. It's already starting.
Most recently, catcher Matt Wieters made the SI cover in March 2010, and Adam Jones, Nick Markakis and Endy Chavez made it last September.
Before tonight, Davis was on pace to hit 59 home runs this season.
Miguel Gonzalez turned in back-to-back quality starts going into tonight's game. He still has a shot at another one, having allowed three runs (two earned) and seven hits in five innings, with three walks and three strikeouts. The Orioles continue to trail the Rays 3-1.
Gonzalez has thrown 87 pitches, 61 for strikes.
The Rays loaded the bases with one out in the fifth, but James Loney bounced into a 4-6-3 double play.
Rays starter Alex Cobb has retired seven of eight batters since Ryan Flaherty's RBI single in the second. The only batter to reach was Davis on the HBP.
Down on the farm, Hunter Harvey made his debut tonight at short-season Single-A Aberdeen and was charged with one unearned run and four hits in 4 1/3 innings, with one walk and five strikeouts. The run scored after he left the game.

T.J. McFarland stranded two runners by retiring Ben Zobrist on one pitch.
McFarland had let 13 of 21 inherited runners score before tonight.
Gonzalez has failed to complete six innings in three of his last five starts.
Update II: The Orioles loaded the bases with no outs in the seventh and scored only once, leaving the Rays ahead 3-2.
Left-hander Alex Torres replaced Cobb and induced a double play grounder from Brian Roberts on the second pitch. Roberts hadn't faced Torres before tonight.
Nate McLouth struck out looking with the count full to end the inning.
J.J. Hardy singled with one out, the Orioles' first hit since Flaherty's RBI single in the second inning.
McFarland has retired all four batters that he's faced and he's back on the mound in the eighth.
Update III: The Rays broke open the game in the ninth, scoring four runs to lead 7-2.
All four runs were charged to McFarland, though the last two scored on Wil Myers' single off Jim Johnson.
Johnson surrendered three straight singles, but he didn't allow a run of his own for the first time in five outings.
