Sixth inning woes continue (Wieters homers, O's lose 8-5)

The Orioles gave up six runs to the Rangers in the top of the sixth tonight to fall behind 8-3 and continue their woes in that inning. Opponents have outscored the Orioles 69-40 in the sixth. They've scored 40 in the first, 39 in the second, 38 in the third, 62 in the fourth, 46 in the fifth, 53 in the seventh, 26 in the eighth, 32 in the ninth and four in extras. Scott Feldman was charged with seven runs and nine hits - both season highs - in 5 1/3 innings. He walked one, struck out two and hit two batters. Manager Buck Showalter removed him after 87 pitches, 50 for strikes. Left-hander Troy Patton let all three inherited runners score, and one of his own, in two-thirds of an inning. Tommy Hunter replaced him in the seventh. Feldman's only walk in two starts with the Orioles was intentional to Mitch Moreland to load the bases following A.J. Pierzynski's two-run double. Elvis Andrus singled on the next pitch to drive in another run. The big blow was Ian Kinsler's three-run double off Patton, who entered the game after Andrus' single. Patton hadn't allowed a run in his last 11 appearances. The Orioles are paying the price for going 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position and leaving eight runners on base. Tonight's attendance: 24,619 Update: Adam Jones reached on a passed ball after striking out to lead off the bottom of the seventh, and Matt Wieters homered with one out to reduce the Rangers' lead to 8-5. Bet it makes you wish the Orioles had limited the damage in the sixth. Wieters was 0-for-3 with three strikeouts and seven runners left on base before connecting for his 12th home run - and only his fourth against a left-hander. Former Orioles farmhand Ross Wolf is replacing Holland with two on and two outs in the seventh. He was part of the infamous Fox-Wolf trade. Yes, Jake Fox. Update II: The Orioles couldn't rally against closer Joe Nathan and lost to the Rangers 8-5. The Orioles fall to 49-41 after losing for the fifth time in seven games. They went 1-for-12 with RISP and left 10 on base. Wieters and Chris Davis each struck out four times and combined to leave 12 runners on base.
