Starters set for Orioles-White Sox series at Camden Yards

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Barring an unforeseen change, former Orioles pitcher Miguel Gonzalez won't make a start later this week at Camden Yards.

The redemption angle is shot.

The White Sox's starters for their four-game series don't include Gonzalez, who made his debut last night after the club purchased his contract from Triple-A Charlotte.

Tyler Wilson white night.jpgTyler Wilson will oppose John Danks in the opener Thursday night. Carlos Rodon, Mat Latos and Chris Sale are listed as the other starters for the White Sox, whose 14-6 record is tops in the American League.

The Orioles also will send Mike Wright, Kevin Gausman and Ubaldo Jimenez to the mound.

Wright's status with the Orioles came into question before they decided to option infielder Ryan Flaherty yesterday while activating Kevin Gausman from the disabled list.

Gonzalez, placed on release waivers in spring training, allowed five runs and 11 hits in 5 1/3 innings last night before Chicago rallied for a 7-5 win over the Blue Jays.

Former Orioles reliever-turned-journeyman Matt Albers set a White Sox record last night by extending his streak of scoreless appearances to 30 in a row. Jesse Crane held the old mark of 29 in 2013.

Albers hasn't allowed a run in 33 consecutive innings, tied with Jack Harshman (1954) for the seventh-longest streak in White Sox history.

I'll admit that I didn't see it coming.

Jimenez, who starts tonight for the Orioles at Tropicana Field, is one victory shy of tying Miguel Batista for ninth place on the all-time wins list among Dominican-born pitchers with 102.
