In taking a closer look at Mark Reynolds' statistics, there are some trends worth looking at.
At this point in the season, he is batting much better on the road than at home, better versus right-handed pitching over lefties and his batting average goes up the lower he bats in the order.
Reynolds:
Home:.097 avg., two homers, nine RBIs and .476 OPS.
Road: .275 avg., three homers, 10 RBIs and .816 OPS.
Against lefties: .100 avg., .383 OPS
Against righties: .218 avg., .733 OPS
Batting 7th: .205 avg., .658 OPS
Batting 8th: .231 avg., .758 OPS
Batting 9th: .286 avg., 1.000 OPS
Reynolds has batted just seven times with two hits batting ninth. He has 83 at bats hitting seventh and 26 batting eighth.
With runners in scoring position, Reynolds has been decent, batting .281 (9-for-32) with a homer and 14 RBIs.
It is a small sample size, but Reynolds has a four-game batting streak for the first time on the season and is 5-for-16 with two homers and four RBIs with two RBIs last night.
As for tonight's game, here is a trend to watch for. Vladimir Guerrero, who has a hot bat right now, is facing a pitcher he has great stats against.
Vlad is 12-for-25 with five career homers versus Tim Wakefield. Also, over the last three games, Vlad is 7-for-14 with five doubles. He has more doubles in those three games than the four he had in his first 35 games.
Vlad is batting .440 over his past six games to raise his average from .267 to its current .295.
