Three Orioles make Baseball America top 100 prospects list; Bundy, Gausman in top 20

Three Orioles pitching prospects made Baseball America's top 100 prospects list that was released tonight. Dylan Bundy is ranked No. 15 with Kevin Gausman No. 20 and Eduardo Rodriguez No. 65. Two other Orioles came close to making the list. When Baseball America did its first draft of the top 100, pitcher Hunter Harvey was No. 108 and infielder Jonathan Schoop No. 110, according to BA's John Manuel. All five of those O's prospects made the ESPN and Baseball Prospectus top 100 lists while there are three on the list from MLB.com. Here is how the O's were ranked by each: * Bundy: No. 15 - BP & BA, No. 20 - MLB, No. 31 - ESPN. * Gausman: No. 10 - BP, No. 20 - BA, No. 23 - ESPN, No. 31 - MLB. * Rodriguez: No. 43 - ESPN, No. 61 - BP, No. 65 - BA, No. 68 - MLB. * Harvey: No. 38 - ESPN, No. 58 - BP. * Schoop: No. 82 - BP, No. 86 - ESPN. This is the 25th year for the Baseball America top 100 list, which made its debut in 1990. Last year on the BA list, Bundy was No. 2 and Gausman No. 26. The O's last had three on this list in 2012 with Bundy No. 10, Manny Machado No. 11 and Schoop No. 82. Baseball America rated the Orioles farm system No. 12 in all of baseball in its Prospect Handbook. "It's star power," Manuel said of that ranking. "Those top four pitchers in their system are all pretty exciting guys. There's the potential to have four future rotation guys. "The depth is not what Dan Duquette or Brian Graham would like it to be I'm sure, but we do like the direction the organization is going with the emphasis on pitchers. It is not a deep farm, but there is some good pitching at the top and I like (pitchers) Mike Wright and Tim Berry also. The strength of the organization is the potential for starting pitching. That puts them in the top half for us." In an entry here on Thursday morning, I'll have more on this list including Manuel's comments on the three O's that made the list and the two that came close.
