Tigers J.D. Martinez: "It's just one loss" (updated)

During his Game 2 American League Division Series pregame press conference at Camden Yards this morning, Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said he would not know if outfielder Rajai Davis would play today until after batting practice. Davis has been hampered since Saturday by a ligament sprain in the pelvic area. He played last night, going 1-for-3 but was pinch hit for in the ninth inning. Update: Davis is in the lineup for Game 2, batting ninth in center field. Ausmus talked about his team trying to bounce back today. "I promise you as soon as that first pitch is thrown today, there won't be a guy in our dugout thinking about last night," he said. The Detroit bullpen gave up seven runs in just 2/3 of an inning last night, but Ausmus said he would not hesitate to go his 'pen today. "You know you learn in baseball that one outing doesn't necessarily change anything," Ausmus said. "Joakim Soria, for instance, didn't have a great outing, but that doesn't mean we don't have faith in Soria. This guy has closed games, he's set up and he certainly would be capable of doing that today, regardless of what happened yesterday." Tigers outfielder J.D. Martinez, who homered in Game 1, said the Tigers are ready to bounce back after the 12-3 loss. "Just knowing that it's a series of five and first team to win three games," Martinez said. "It's just one loss. We can split here and go back home 1-1 and have two games at home. That is something we are definitely confident about going forward. "The veteran guys have taught us not to dwell on a bad game. I remember a day we got our face kicked in and the veteran guys on the bus acted like we hadn't lost. Of course everyone was feeling it, but how they turned the page was something I really noticed." The Tigers face O's lefty Wei-Yin Chen (16-6, 3.54 ERA) this afternoon. Martinez has never faced Chen, but was about to get a quick scouting report on him after the press conference. "Watch some video and pick the brain of the older guys. Don't have a set approach on him yet. Just have to go out there and see what he has," Martinez said.
