Tillman chosen to All-Star team (Davis homers again, Feldman update)

The Orioles now have five representatives for Tuesday night's All-Star Game at Citi Field in New York. Chris Tillman has been named as a replacement for Justin Verlander, who's starting today for the Tigers. Tillman, who hasn't pitched since Friday night, will join center fielder Adam Jones, first baseman Chris Davis, shortstop J.J. Hardy and third baseman Manny Machado. This is the first All-Star selection for Tillman, 25, who's 11-3 with a 3.95 ERA in 19 starts this season, with 89 strikeouts in 111 2/3 innings. Only Matt Moore (13), Max Scherzer (13) and Bartolo Colon (12) have more wins in the American League than Tillman. The Orioles introduced their All-Stars before today's game, presenting each one with his blue and orange jersey. Fans and the media hadn't been told of Tillman's inclusion until he jogged out of the dugout to receive his jersey. Surprise! The Orioles have more than four representatives for the first time since Roberto Alomar, Brady Anderson, Jimmy Key, Mike Mussina, Cal Ripken Jr. and Randy Myers were chosen in 1997. Key didn't attend because he got married. Manager Buck Showalter asked reporters earlier today whether Verlander was still starting for the Tigers. Now it all makes sense. Tillman is tentatively scheduled to start next Sunday in Kansas City following the break. Four of the five All-Stars were acquired in trades by former executive Andy MacPhail, including Jones and Tillman in the Erik Bedard deal with the Mariners. It's been a big day so far for the Orioles' All-Stars, and we've only completed one inning. Machado collected his 128th hit after Nate McLouth singled, and Jones delivered an RBI single. Davis followed with a two-run double, and he scored with two outs on Hardy's single. The four-run first ties the Orioles' season high, accomplished four times. And it earned Toronto starter Josh Johnson a visit from pitching coach Pete Walker. Davis now has 91 RBIs this season. His next hit will be the 500th of his career. Hardy joined Ripken, Miguel Tejada and Mike Bordick as only Orioles shortstops with at least 60 homers and 200 RBIs. Update: Davis got his 500th career hit in the third inning with his 37th home run this season, a two-run shot to left field after Jones drew another walk. Orioles 6, Jays 0 Davis has tied Reggie Jackson for most home runs before the break in American League history. He's homered in four straight games for the second time this season. Davis has four RBIs today and 93 this season. Now he's just showing off. Update II: Scott Feldman has allowed two runs over five innings, with three hits, one walk and six strikeouts. He's thrown 84 pitches, 54 for strikes. Maicer Izturis' two-out, two-run single in the fourth accounted for the Jays' scoring. Feldman has struck out Jose Bautista twice today in three plate appearances.
