Originally, the Orioles listed left-hander Wei-Yin Chen as Wednesday afternoon's starter against the Tigers at Camden Yards, which lined up Miguel Gonzalez to start Thursday night's opener in Kansas City.
It's not so clear anymore.
The Orioles' game notes still list Ubaldo Jimenez as Tuesday night's starter, but Wednesday and Thursday are TBA.
Manager Buck Showalter will be asked about his rotation later tonight. Perhaps he can provide an explanation.
Chen would be working on normal rest Wednesday. In his last start, he held the Astros to two runs and five hits over seven innings, with one walk and four strikeouts.
Chen, who threw 101 pitches, improved to 4-2 with a 3.95 ERA. This is the first time in 2014 that his ERA has dipped below 4.00.
The following night, Gonzalez held the Astros to two runs and six hits in seven innings, with two walks and six strikeouts. He threw 90 pitches.
Gonzalez is 1-3 with a 4.78 ERA in seven starts this season.
Jimenez opposes left-hander Drew Smyly Tuesday night. Justin Verlander starts for the Tigers on Wednesday.
The pitching matchups in Kansas City read as follows:
Thursday: TBA versus Yordano Ventura
Friday: Chris Tillman versus Jeremy Guthrie
Saturday: Bud Norris versus Danny Duffy
Sunday: Ubaldo Jimenez versus James Shields
