Updates on Cole, Garcia and Moore

Right-hander A.J. Cole had an outstanding Double-A debut Thursday for Harrisburg. Cole tossed seven innings in a 2-1 Senators win at Portland. Cole allowed three hits, one run, a solo homer, one walk and struck out six batters. After a one-out single in the first, Cole ran off 11 straight outs. A club source reported that Cole "threw the ball very well. He had above average fastball command. His changeup was effective and he sprinkled in the curveball nicely." It has already been a big season for Cole. Last season, he dropped from high Single-A to low Single-A in the Oakland A's organization before he had some success. This season, Cole has gotten off to a good start at high Single-A Potomac and Double-A Harrisburg. * Heading into Saturday's game at Indianapolis, outfielder Tyler Moore has been on a get streak for Triple-A Syracuse. Moore is hitting .441 (15-for-34) the last 10 games, with three doubles, one homer, seven RBIs, 10 walks and eight strikeouts. Moore was also riding a 12-game on-base streak. * Right-hander Christian Garcia is continuing to rehab his hamstring injury. Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo said they hope Garcia can return before the end of the season. "We are planning on him being able to pitch sometime this year," Rizzo said. "I don't know exactly know where he is at in his rehab. Certainly the hamstring set him back because he was just about ready to be activated off of the DL."
