KANSAS CITY - The Orioles will make another roster move on Tuesday after Steve Clevenger leaves the team to be with his wife Tiffany for the birth of their first child.
Clevenger will be placed on paternity leave following tonight's game. The Orioles will bring up a position player.
With an eight-man bullpen, it's possible that the Orioles also will send down a reliever after tonight's game and go back to a four-man bench. They need an extra arm tonight because manager Buck Showalter wants to avoid using a couple of his relievers.
Showalter is encouraged by the results of shortstop J.J. Hardy's MRI. Hardy, placed on the disabled list today with a strained left groin, will rejoin the team on Tuesday after being examined by team orthopedist Dr. Michael Jacobs.
Mike Wright, on the disabled list with a left calf strain, is scheduled to throw five innings Thursday with Triple-A Norfolk.
Chaz Roe, on the disabled list with right shoulder tendinitis, will throw a bullpen session Tuesday in Kansas City and a simulated game Friday in Arlington.
Tyler Wilson, on the disabled list with a left oblique strain, wil throw a bullpen session on Tuesday.
Showalter said it wasn't an easy decision to designate outfielder Nolan Reimold for assignment. However, he's hoping that Reimold clears waivers, accepts an outright assignment to Norfolk and rejoins the club in September when rosters expand.
