It looks like the injury that forced Single-A Delmarva catcher Gabriel Lino out of a game last night is not that serious, and at this point, it doesn't appear he is headed for the disabled list.
Lino suffered a slightly jammed left middle finger when he caught a pitch in an awkward fashion. He left the game and could miss a couple of upcoming Shorebirds games.
At 18, Lino is the youngest player on the Delmarva team but is a young player playing to pretty strong early season reviews for both his hitting and defense. Ranked as the Orioles' No. 21 prospect by Baseball America, Lino is hitting .329 in 15 games with five doubles, two homers, 11 RBIs and a .933 OPS.
Pitcher Joel Pinerio, signed by the Orioles to a minor league contract April 11, will likely join Triple-A Norfolk's rotation next week. He will probably make his first start for the Tides Wednesday.
With pitcher Stu Pomeranz moving from Double-A Bowie to Triple-A, as I reported here yesterday, right-hander Kyler Newby will join the Baysox to take his roster spot.
Delmarva outfielder Mikey Planeta is moving to Single-A Frederick and catcher Justin Dalles is taking his Shorebirds roster spot.
Frederick is putting outfielder Trent Mummey on the disabled list, retroactive to April 25, with a hamstring injury.
For those asking, Dylan Bundy's next scheduled start is expected to be Monday at home in Salisbury versus Asheville at 7:05 p.m.
