Webb injures knee (with Phillies lineup)

SARASOTA, Fla. - Reliever Ryan Webb injured his left knee during yesterday's workout and is unavailable to pitch.

Webb woke up with swelling in the knee and could undergo X-rays later in the day.

"He's not real sure how or when he did it, but he's got swelling. He's going to be down for a while," said manager Buck Showalter.

Webb has made two appearances this spring and allowed one run and two hits in two innings.

"He's got some discomfort and a little bit of swelling and we're going to let the doctor look at it and see what's wrong," Showalter said. "He woke up this morning with it not a whole lot better."

Webb has one year remaining on his contract. He's out of minor league options.

The Orioles will make three or four cuts during lunch and more could come following the game.

"As many as I can get to," Showalter said.

Chris Tillman is scheduled to work two innings today. Wei-Yin Chen and Kevin Gausman will pitch on Tuesday against the Yankees in Sarasota.

Left-hander Brian Matusz is expected to work two innings today in relief.

Catcher Caleb Joseph, back in camp after the birth of his son, will replace Steve Clevenger behind the plate during the game.

Steve Pearce is at first base today and Chris Davis is getting a start in right field.

"You'll probably see it again," Showalter said. "It's as much for their sake. It's just a different look and a reminder that we will do this. Who knows?

"You never know what you might end up doing over the course of the season. I'm not saying it means you're going to see more of it or less of it. Trying to present as many looks as we can and keep our options open."
