Week in review: New pitching coaches, bullpen usage, PECOTA and more

On this Sunday, we take a look back about a week at some of the stories that appeared here and the comments you made about them. Feel free to send in a question or comment about any or all of them today.

Monday: We heard from the new Orioles pitching coaches and Rule 5 picks Anthony Santander and Aneury Tavarez. New pitching coach Roger McDowell said bullpen coach Alan Mills will be very important for him. They are former O's teammates and Mills has some real knowledge of the O's pitchers having spent the last five years on the Orioles farm.

"That will be a tremendous asset," McDowell said of Mills. "Obviously, we go back to 20 years ago. We were teammates here in the same bullpen. We've seen each other maybe a handful of times over 20 years, but when we sat down at minicamp in Sarasota, it was like time really hadn't passed."

Tuesday: We took a look back a real special Mo-ment from FanFest when 11-year-old Mo got to meet Adam Jones and Manny Machado. Mo is blind, but the regular caller to 105.7 The Fan in Baltimore doesn't let that slow him down. His love for Baltimore sports and the Orioles has garnered Mo his own fanbase.

Plus we took a look at the Orioles top 20 prospects lists that was published by ESPN's Keith Law. Do you agree with his list?

Wednesday: The best bullpen pitchers were used more often and at times for much longer outings in the playoffs in October. Could we see more of this come April? We got Zach Britton's take on it.

Thursday: It is easy to equate Orioles right-hander Chris Tillman with winning. We went back to 2012 and found that the Orioles have won 64 percent of his starts since then while the team overall has won 55 percent in that time.

Friday: The PECOTA projections and predictions for Major League Baseball are coming out soon. We took a look at the system's poor record trying to predict the Orioles won-loss record over the last five years. It's bad, real bad.

Saturday: Britton talked about the Orioles bullpen outlook for the coming season. In addition, he talked about trying to follow up on his great 2016 season and how long it took him to move past not being called on to pitch in the wild card game.

"I mean, I was over it right away," Britton said. "We had so many days together and so many games that you can look at in hindsight and second guess yourself a lot. Once I got home, it was over with for me. I understand it was a big story. You know, I trust Buck (Showalter)."
