What you might see in Seattle

Kevin Millwood delivered the lineup card to home plate yesterday. I'd have Kevin Millwood deliver the lineup card to home plate tonight. If the Orioles win again, I'd have Kevin Millwood deliver the lineup card to home plate tomorrow night. I'm not sure if he should do it on the night that he's pitching, but we'll cross that bridge on Wednesday. As long as the Orioles are stringing together victories, I'd make sure that Kevin Millwood delivered the morning paper to his teammates. If he had delivered Mike Gonzalez's baby, the losing streak might not have reached nine games. It's just a theory. It might be too early to classify Brad Bergesen's start tonight as a big one, but it sure feels that way. Bergesen has surrendered 10 earned runs (13 total) and 15 hits in 7 2/3 innings this month. He's walked three and given up three home runs. He's lost both games. A big one, indeed. Bergesen insists that he's healthy. Manager Dave Trembley has noted that Bergesen isn't getting the same sink on the ball. Maybe it'll happen tonight. Bergesen is 1-1 with a 2.14 ERA against the Mariners, with five earned runs allowed in 21 innings. They're batting .211 against him. Of course, that was back when Bergesen had sink on the ball. Ichiro Suzuki is 4-for-11 with an RBI against Bergesen. Franklin Gutierrez is 4-for-8 with a double and a walk. Doesn't matter what the ball's doing when they're at the plate. Ken Griffey Jr. and Jose Lopez are a combined 0-for-18. Gutierrez is batting .417 this season and leads the Mariners with 20 hits. Milton Bradley was a late scratch yesterday with a sore right calf muscle. He's hitting .139 with two homers and eight RBIs this season. Mariners starter Doug Fister is making his first career appearance against the Orioles. He's 1-2 with a 6.27 ERA against the AL East. Take it for what it's worth. Miguel Tejada is still day-to-day with the Orioles because of a strained hip adductor. Nothing wrong with keeping Ty Wigginton at third base for another game while Tejada heals. I've seen the injury classified as a hip adductor and hip abductor. I've looked up both terms and don't really see a difference, which again explains why I'm not a doctor. Do we have one in the house? Strained hip works for me.

Well, that's one in a row
